What’s involved?
If you answer yes to any of these questions, there are plenty of things that you can do to make a positive outcome to your community.
It doesn’t always mean you have to dedicate heaps of time to an organisation. Instead, there are fun events you can do on the weekend with some friends!
* Change you general attitude toward people from another country or culture by living the ideals of multiculturalism. This means accepting the way others choose to live. And always appreciate the difference in our country!
* Take a trip to a suburb other than your own that is known for its special cultural foods. For example, in Sydney you could go to the suburb of Cabramatta in Sydney’s west and indulge in a traditional Vietnamese cuisine. You might visit a suburb where there is a cultural place of worship such as a Mosque or Jewish temple. The possibilities are endless, but the point is to get out there and experience a culture in a different way for the first time.
* Volunteer at a local migrant community service group, helping people who don’t speak English access health services, shopping venues, legal issues etc. This can be done by contacting your local Migrant Resource Centre. This site will give you contacts details for closest one to you:

* Get involved in Harmony Day activities on March 21 by visiting your local council. Depending on your state, visit the following sites for your local council contacts:

* Learn a new language. The positive outcomes of this are immeasurable as you will learn a great life skill and get an insight into another new culture.
