Make aid better

Not all aid is equal. Some is efficient and delivers transformative results. But some simply doesn't achieve its intended purpose.

A vital step to changing the impact of aid donor governments to increase aid transparency. This helps recipient countries plan their budgets while enabling donors to better coordinate their efforts. Public information on aid also helps to fight corruption and empowers people to hold their governments to account.

ONE - an advocacy and campaigning organisation fighting against extreme poverty - is calling on people to send a letter to World Bank President Bob Zoellick, Chair of the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) Eckhard Deutscher, and other directors of aid agencies and other aid agency directors encouraging them to commit to increasing aid transparency.

They will deliver the letter just ahead of an upcoming meeting of development ministers and other key figures to discuss improving aid effectiveness. They say this is the best chance they have to convince Bob Zoellick, Eckhard Deutscher, and other leaders to publish information about what aid programs they are funding.
