Why do we exist ?

MYRC is a 22 year old generalist youth service located in Marrickville, a large culturally diverse area located in the Inner West of Sydney

What do we do ?

We provides recreation, education, cultural and arts programs to young people between the ages of 12 – 24 going to school and living in the Marrickville LGA.

What opportunities do we have for young people ?

The Beanbag centre provides equipment that allows young people to do accommodation searches, RTA preparation tests, film editing, creating music, resume writing, job searching, website design, homework/research, word processing, playing games, socialising……

Other Stuff

Three young people have become prolific editors, shooting their own footage and coming to MYRC to edit. One young woman in particular made a number of short films, was a peer educator on the 2005 MYRC kick arse project, was employed as a tutor in the Links to Learning project and taught others including MYRC staff how to use the editing program. In 2005 she completed a Certificate III in Music Performance and is currently studying a Certificate III in Screen at Eora College. More recently, she has been teaching her friends camera and editing skills.
